The owner?of the property at Highland, St Thomas, where a contractor was seriously injured after falling off a ladder on Wednesday, said he suspected the man fell because there was no cement in the concrete block holes.
Contractor Joseph Stephen is reported to be in serious condition at the Intensive Care Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after suffering injuries to his head. He fell 17 feet after the cement column broke near to the base while he was pouring concrete into block holes.
Stephen was standing on a wooden ladder pouring the cement out of a bucket.
While pointing out that he was praying for Stephen’s recovery, the owner of the property, Samuel Carter, said that only last Sunday he had questioned the contractor about why he was not putting cement into the block holes as he erected the blocks.
