Do not fear the growing cultural diversity, advised Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley.
Speaking on Saturday night at the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) Awards Ceremony held at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Lashley said that NIFCA ensured the island benefited from a growing cultural diversity.
“And we need not fear this growing cultural diversity. Indeed, a culture that is left in isolation, having no contact with other cultures, is doomed to die,” Lashley said.
He explained that 40 years after the birth of NIFCA, society had undergone considerable changes and had become much more multicultural. (AC)
