FOR THE PAST 25 years, the First Class Pre-School in Welches, St Michael, has been holding an Easter Bonnet Parade, and this year’s was a bit different as it featured a tuk band.
“Every year it is different. It is all about building self-confidence and independence and it also allows parents the opportunity to come and interact with their children,” director-principal Sharon Nightingale said, adding that both the children and their parents enjoyed themselves “thoroughly”.
Teacher Gail Weekes, who organised yesterday’s parade, said the tuk band was brought in to bring a Barbadian flavour to the event. She said some of the themes included Easter Warrior, Morning Has Broken, Rainbow Warrior and Stop Burning The Cane.
The 30 children, aged 18 months to eight years old, travelled around the front of the premises as they showed off their bonnets, baskets and hats. (CA)
