New boss at BCCI

The Barbados Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI) has a new president. Tracey Shuffler, the deputy divisional general manager in the Import Distribution and Marketing Division at Goddard Enterprises Ltd (GEL), was elected when the BCCI held its 188th annual general meeting recently.
Shuffler was born and raised in Montreal, Canada by Barbadian parents before moving to Barbados after completing her education at McGill University.
Shuffler, who has worked for GEL for 17 years, also serves on a number of its boards and is involved in the “the development of the strategic direction of some of GEL’s companies in Barbados, Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent, St Kitts and Antigua”.
The new BCCI head “is committed to growth through export based business development, renewable energy investment to conserve foreign exchange and improving national competitiveness”.
??Also elected to serve on the BCCI’s executive council 2014/2015 were senior vice president Eddie Abed (S. Abed & Co. Ltd), vice-president (Finance) Ricky Went (Axcel Finance Barbados SRL), and vice-president Edward Clarke (Sagicor Life Inc.).
?The councillors included Goulbourne Alleyne (Insurance Corporation of Barbados Ltd), Roger Archer (Scotiabank), Roxanne Brancker (Media Support International), Sharon Christie (Kensington Court Group), Peter Downes (Profiles Caribbean Inc), Patrick Hinkson (LIME), Nicholas Mouttet (Ansa McAl (Barbados) Ltd).
The other councillors were Ezra Prescod (SOL (Barbados) Ltd), Ryan Straughn (Abelian Consulting Services Inc.), Charles Tibbits (Tax Consultancy Services Ltd), Harriet Walrond (Williams Industries Inc), and Jared Wright (Neal & Massy (Barbados) Ltd).
Immediate past president Lalu Vaswani of Satjay Enterprises Ltd. and executive director Lisa Gale will continue to sit on the executive council. (PR/SC)
