AN ENVIRONMENTAL problem at the Immigration Department’s Office at Wharf Road, The City resulted in it being closed today.

Reports indicate that there was a sewage problem which created an unbearable stench in the offices.

Staff were seen filing out of the building during the morning while a few remained on the outside telling customers to return today.

However one upset customer said the Immigration Office was dealing with the problem since last Friday. “Couldn’t they have gotten this fixed over the weekend?” he asked, pointing out that he needed to access his documents.

The Government Information Service reported that the offices would be opened tomorrow. (MB)
