THE GREEN LIGHT has been given for the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) to take industrial action.

The go-ahead was given on Mondayevening, following an emergency council meeting held at the union’s headquarters at Dalkeith, St Michael. The decision was taken because of Government’s delay in meeting withthe union to continue salary negotiations for public servants.

“During the meeting we decided to take industrial action against the Government,” NUPW president Akanni McDowall told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday.

While he did notgive a date when the action would be forthcoming, McDowall said that it would be soon. (RB)
