TODAY'S success is not enough for tomorrow's glory.

That was the message education consultant to Ameritech Global Services, Matthew Farley, gave to the Top 10 achievers in the Common Entrance Examination.

Ashley Inniss, Alicia Alleyne, Gabrielle Cumberbatch, Stephanie Davis, Jason Gaskin, Cherisse Francis, Danielle Forde, Shem Best, Sadio Gollop and Jonathan Cumberbatch all received awards in the conference room of Selby, Rose and Mapp Architect Ltd., 7th Avenue Belleville, St Michael, on Friday.

"This is a turning point rather than an end point in your educational life. I have seen top achievers become dropouts because they failed to realise that a good start means nothing unless you also finish well," Farley said.

He also gave the children some advice: "Use success to spur you on to greater things; set clear goals and be clear about who you are and what you want to be. Be positive and develop good people skills, be reliable, express yourself, articulate ideas and respect the law, life and environment. Genius without such skills renders monsters."

This was the third such event sponsored by Ameritech Global Services and, according to office manager Waveney Bostic, they plan on many more.

Chief executive officer Ricardo Jarvis gave an inspirational story based on his life. He told the children to cherish the positive people they would meet and to read as much as possible, as it would make them better people.

Each child received a certificate of excellence, a computer course and a voucher redeemable at Days Bookstore.
