RECORD-BREAKER A MARKED MAN. Thousands of race fans are expected to converge on the Bushy Park Racing Circuit in St Philip today as the Barbados Auto Racing League stages Round 2 of its 2006 championship series. And even though 54 cars are down to face the starter, attention will be focused on new lap record holder Mark Maloney in the Guinness Power Mazda RX3. During qualifying on Saturday, Maloney set a track record of 43.325 seconds, eclipsing his previous record of 43.564. He now holds the distinction of being the only driver in the history of motor racing in Barbados to break the same record on three or more occasions.
