The awards were bestowed at a ceremony at the Cascadia Hotel in Trinidad and Tobago last Saturday following their successful participation at the Pan-Caribbean Martial Arts Championship and in recognition of outstanding performances and contributions last year.
Ronald Philip was named Master Instructor Of The Year in the Lin-jitsu karate system, while Rollins Alleyne was chosen as the Master Instructor Of The Year in Chinese kempo karate.
Altab Aziz got his award for Instructor Of The Year; Anwar Aziz-Junior was named Male Competitor Of The Year and Tanya Marshall was chosen as Junior Female Competitor Of The Year.
Also inducted were grandmaster Dr Albert W. Best who received the Golden Lifetime Award and Corey Weithers, Adult Male Fighting Competitor Of The Year.
Marshall, 15, of The Lodge School and Aziz, 16, of St Leonard's Boys, are the first Bajan juniors to receive the award. (EZS)
