RETIRED JUSTICE OF APPEAL Colin A. Williams is dead.
Williams, 73, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, after spending close to two weeks in the Intensive Care Unit. He was the brother of former Chief Justice Sir Denys Williams.
Williams sat on the bench of the Court of Appeal from 1996 until his retirement in 2005.
In a Report of the Judicial Council 2005, Williams was lauded for his work in assisting with the council's programmes of reform and his leadership in preparing a new procedure for titling untitled land.
At the time of Williams' retirement, Chief Justice Sir David Simmons lamented that at the height of one's intellectual prowess persons had to retire because of the dictates of the Constitution. (AC)
