Barbados hit with setbacks
Published on: 3/28/08.

PORT-OF-SPAIN – Barbados will try to overcome a week of mishaps which have marred their preparation, in order to beat Trinidad and Tobago in their final-round Carib Beer Cup match and reach the Challenge Final.

The two teams are scheduled to face off at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre today, but Barbados' preparation has been hampered by missing luggage and unprepared practice venues.

Barbados team manager Livingstone Coppin told CMC Sports the team had had a rough time since arriving in the country on Tuesday.

He said 16 pieces of luggage had gone missing and the team had missed out on valuable physical and net sessions.

A blow for Barbados is the absence of Test players Ryan Hinds and Pedro Collins.

The local team have also suffered a major setback with the withdrawal of their two Test players – all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin – because of injury.

The pair have been replaced by West Indies youth batsman Darren Bravo and wicketkeeper/batsman Gibran Mohammed.

The match starts at 10 a.m.
