UNDER THE THEME Empowering Women For Success, business event planners BrainWave Consultants have planned a two-day leadership summit, geared towards the professional development of women in the region.

Speaking at a Press briefing yesterday at Hilton Barbados, directors of BrainWave Consultants Antoine Williams and Lisa Legall-Belgrave said the conference was slated for May 22 and 23, and it intended to provide career oriented women with winning strategies for the "real world".

"We realised that women are achieving success, moving up the corporate ladder as it were," said Williams.

"So we thought this might have been necessary to bring these women together both locally and regionally so they can offer their expressions as far as success is concerned and as far as failure even . . . ."

According to Williams, the structure of the two-day summit allowed for ways to identify strategies geared towards career building and, most importantly, balancing work and life.

His partner stressed the significance of coming to terms with the latter topic.

"It is one area where most women will need to address," said Legall-Belgrave, "as a woman myself, I have several things that I am involved with and it is about trying to balance it all."

Award winning author and life coach from the United Kingdom Gladys Famoriyo headlines the list of female speakers to address the event, which also includes Vivian-Anne Gittens, publisher and chief executive officer of THE NATION.

Despite mainly catering for career oriented women in the region, Williams said men would also have their say.

"We will also have a session titled Our Men Speak because we figured that we can't have an event where the majority is women and not hear from men. A balance is important," Williams added.
