After touring the St John institution with a team of Government officials yesterday, Minister of Education Ronald Jones told the media some buildings would be refurbished.
"I am aware as a relatively old school that there would be need for major work, and this school is up for major work, one would hope within the new year 2009. The school continues to produce good results and, as such, we have a responsibility to ensure that students and teachers work in conditions that would even accelerate greater productivity," Jones said.
The minister said whatever the upgrades, as much of the physical plant would be retained as possible in order to keep the history and culture of the institution intact.
He said he was "a bit surprised" at the diversity of programmes offered at Lodge, which ranged from agriculture to the regular academics.
Jones also toured Society and Mount Tabor Primary schools. (YB)
