I HAVE BEEN MARRIED for many years (I don't want to identify them because some of my friends might know it is my marriage I am talking about). Just let me say it is over 20 years and for some time now my husband has been involved with another woman.

It'd got so bad and I couldn't take it anymore. So I told him I wanted out. It was then he said he did not want to lose me and his affair was over. He assured me this was so.

Christine, even if that's true, I know he still cares for someone else and only stays with me because of our two children.

You didn't say what proof you have, but if you are sure of your facts, then work out what you want. Do you want your husband to leave? Or do you want to save your marriage?

Counselling could help and you could go alone, if he wouldn't agree. But do consider that the affair might well be over. Give him a chance to prove himself.
