The much anticipated semi-final clash between defending champions The Lodge and Combermere comes off today at noon, at Foundation School, in Church Hill, Christ Church.

At stake will be a place in next Sunday's final of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Schools' Under-19 Knockout tournament. The winners will meet first-timers St Lucy Secondary.

This semi-final is bound to attract lots of attention as both teams have been extremely competitive in all forms of schools cricket over the years.

On show will be a number of the island's leading young cricketers that will make it an exciting spectacle.

Combermere have the enviable record of reaching the final on 12 occasions in the tournament, which is now in its 25th year. They have also won it a record seven times.

On the other side of the coin, Lodge are seeking their third consecutive final appearance and their ninth overall. The champions will be looking for a fourth title after they won it in 1989, 1994 and last year.

When these two met in the 2006 final Combermere came away victorious.

Combermere's line-up includes the prolific Kraigg Brathwaite who needs no introduction. Having missed the preliminaries owing to duties with the West Indies' Under-15 team in the recent CLICO International Under-15 competition, he will be hungry to make up for his absence.

The diminutive Shane Dowrich who hit the first century of the tournament and the inform and consistent Roston Chase will provide the backbone of the batting.

Chase, who also has a hundred in this tournament, has transferred that form to the Division I and the Sagicor General Super Cup with innings of 94 and 93 not out, respectively.

Also in the squad are former Barbados Under-15 players in leg-spinner Dario Vaughan, all-rounders Daley Grainger and Jomel Warrican along with batsman Shane Murray who played in last year's TCL West Indies Under-19 tournament.

The fast bowling will be provided by left-arm pacer Dakari Louis and national under-15 player Justin Greaves.
