Goal feast in women's soccer
Published on: 10/8/07.

MATCHES in the Barbados Football Association's Women's League continued at Blenheim "A" on Wednesday night.

In the opening match, National Sports Council (NSC) thrashed Notre Dame 12-1, while in the night capper, unbeaten Carlton Pro-Shottas recorded the season's biggest win with a 17-0 demolition of St John Combined.

After Sabrina Bell opened the scoring for the NSC girls in the fourth minute, Shakira Rowe started her hat-trick with a 13th minute strike before adding second-half goals in the 62nd and 76th minutes.

Jalisa Burke (16th), Sharaine Thompson (26th) and Jalisa Callendar, with a brace of goals (35th and 42nd) also got first-half goals while Kimberly Ellis scored a double (44th and 57th) in either half for the Sports Council.

Awelah McCombie scored the Dames' consolation goal in the 66th minute, but Kerry Bascombe (68th) and Bonita Flores (82nd), completed the NSC's goal-feast.

Pro-Shottas wasted little time in penetrating their opponents' defence as Kycia Knight started the goal-rush with early strikes in the third and seventh minutes.

But it was midfielder Soraya Toppin-Herbert, who benefited most from St John's leaky defence with a beaver-trick in the 5th, 49th, 77th and 85th minutes.

Kyshonna Knight (32nd, 56th, 61st) went one better than her twin sister, scoring a hat-trick, while Renee Lambert (11th and 59th) and Aaliayh Alleyne (15th and 75th) both had double strikes for the Pro-Shottas. (EZS)
