'Too much' materialism
Published on: 7/1/05.

SOME STUDENTS are too caught up in materialism, too much exposed to adult conversations and language which is not acceptable for schools.

And principal of St Angela's Primary School, Grace Edey, who spoke during the school's graduation and prize-giving ceremony yesterday, said that once values were forgotten, they were unlikely to be remembered.

She also praised the students for their performance in the recently-held Common Entrance Examination and noted that the results were commendable. However, Edey explained there was still room for improvement.

The principal urged parents to encourage their children to read because educators were concerned about the performance of students in both the English language and comprehension tests.

Featured speaker, Member of Parliament for St Michael South Central, Richard Sealy, urged the 65 graduates to uphold all of the values that they were taught at St Angela's Primary School throughout life.

He added that the private school provided students with a well-rounded education.

Top boy was Gianni Parris and top girl was Sadio Gollop. They will be off to Harrison College in September.
