Instyle, which is distributed across North America, goes on to paint a glowing picture of one of the hottest pop stars around.
"Since arriving on the scene in 2005, with an ebullient blend of lush island rhythms and swinging pop and a mischievous sensuality radiating from her cinematic music videos, Barbados' most famous export has blazed her path," stated the glossy 252-page publication in a cover story in its August issue now on sale.
"Fanatical about fashion, she takes chances on the red carpet, sports elaborate nail treatments [today it's Swarovski crystals] and keeps her locks short and raven-black which, at first unsettled some of her twittery minders," stated the magazine.
She has made the cover of some of the world's leading glamour, entertainment and lifestyle publications and increasingly she is being highlighted as much for her music as her penchant for high fashion, often breaking every rule in the fashion and celebrity book.
"I never abide by rules," Rihanna told the magazine. "I always break rules."
All, except one, according to Instyle, and that's about sharing information about her private life.
"She is loath to discuss her relationship with the baby-faced crooner and dancer Chris Brown who is stationed outside her dressing room on a skateboard and will later join her for a duet onstage," stated the magazine while interviewing her in Hartford, Connecticut, where she was appearing with music superstar Kanye West during his Glow In The Dark tour.
Just the other day, she featured in a major New York daily newspaper for her choice in clothes, barely mentioning her music.
Inevitably, all the cover stories and host of photographs draw attention to Barbados, her upbringing in the Caribbean and her love for an interest in her birthplace.
For example, Instyle wanted to know if she was "always a fashion maven growing up in Barbados?" She replied: "I wore my brother's clothes, dresses with sneakers or no shoes at all. I would always get into trouble with my mum."
Another question: Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Answer: "That's a cool question. In ten years I want to have already started my family and have some business on my own. A fashion line, a make-up line, and I still want to be doing what I'm doing at a much bigger capacity by the grace of God."
Then there is her "obsession with style" which has given birth to the Rihanna look.
"It has evolved without my noticing it," she said. " . . . . Grace Jones [singer and actress] inspires. She is the most iconic woman ever, in my eyes. She has extraordinary style and she's fearless."
And how did she react to the . . . Rihanna hairstyles?
"The first time I heard people asking for the Rihanna, it was really flattering and maybe a little strange," she said. "It caught me by surprise but now I feel it's very cool thing."
The pop idol is getting ready to move into a four-bedroom home in Los Angeles, California, which she said she is excited about and which will be "inspired by India". It would give her a chance "to stay home and cook West Indian dishes like callaloo".
