Both women were taken into the mortuary to identify the body and Antoine's wife was granted control of his corpse.
But the common-law wife, Felicia Dean, later challenged the decision by the hospital's administration to grant the death certificate to the wife.
Both women were asked to show their identification cards.
The wife, who broke up with Antoine eight years ago, got the upper hand when she produced the marriage certificate.
Dean's attorney Ravi Gooljar confirmed that a letter was delivered to the hospital administrator advising that Antoine had left behind a will naming Dean as the sole executrix.
However, by the time Dean returned to the San Fernando General Hospital mortuary to prove her case, the wife, with a lawyer's letter of her own, had already taken Antoine's body away in a hearse.
