Challenor Centre to get funds
Published on: 6/22/06.

THE CHALLENOR CENTRE will be getting the critical assistance it needs from Government.

It is understood that the decision was taken yesterday at a meeting with Prime Minister Owen Arthur, officials from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Transformation, Ministry of Finance and the centre.

Well-placed sources told the DAILY NATION a decision was made to give the St Thomas-based institution "financial assistance" until next March.

When contacted, its executive director Julie Sealy said she had received "no official word yet" from Government.

She has pleaded with Government for help with the Adult Training Facility, that if closed, would displace the 60 students enrolled there.

Sealy said while they did have access to money, it was only enough to take them to September. (DS)
