HE HAD just about everything in the book: cancer, vitiligo, facial palsy, epilepsy, kidney failure, high blood pressure, bursitis and high cholesterol.
You name it, Earl Chong had it.
Now he is completely cancer-free and has been healed of all his ailments through a combination of strictly raw foods and his faith in God.
Before his complete lifestyle change, Earl, a Jamaican, was a meat lover. He even owned a meat shop. He enjoyed food but soon
found out that certain foods were his greatest enemies.
In 1992 he was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx, then the following year it spread to his chest. Earl was given six months to live. He relied heavily on his faith in God and prayed for healing; miraculously, the cancer disappeared without a trace.
However, he went back to his old eating habits the redder the meat, the more of it he consumed. His harmful habits landed him in the doctor's office once again in 1995. This time, he had prostate cancer.
It was the wake-up call he needed and Earl decided to go on a raw vegetable juice diet for 40 days. Ten days into his diet, he went back to the doctor and, like in the first instance, the cancer was gone.
He was onto something and he knew, it so Earl and his wife Dr Sherrill Chong decided to take their "Back to Eden" message of eating right to the masses.
"This lifestyle has led me into teaching and sharing; sharing is the most enthusiastic part of what we do. That is why we are willing to pay our own expenses to go through the Caribbean to tell people that their health is not in the doctors' hands. It is in their own hands.
"Basically what we are trying to do is to get people to use natural foods. I believe that your food should be your medicine and your medicine should be your food. Technically, you are what you eat," said Earl, who was in Barbados for a week to spread his message as part of a ten-month tour around the region and the world.
"I've been all over the world to share how I dealt with cancer. I personally believe there is a cure for cancer. It is not the killer that medical doctors make it out to be.
"We have seen a dramatic turnaround in people who the medical doctors gave ten days to live. We have seen people come to us on stretchers and within minutes walk out," boasted Earl, who is in his late 60s.
Both he and his wife were involved in evangelistic and healing ministries for many years. Now they have taken their message of healing a bit further. They own several health food stores in Jamaica called Earl's Juice Garden and own a ten-bedroom, four-storey clinic in the hills of Jamaica called Earl's Lifestyle Centre which offers cleansing as well as disease-reversal programmes.
Sherrill told the SUNDAY SUN that even though her husband was cured of cancer the second time around, at the time he still had high blood pressure and heart problems.
"We had a healing ministry and we went around laying hands on people and they got healed. He would get angry over the fact that we were healing people in the name of Jesus and he still had high blood pressure and high cholesterol. So he prayed about it and eventually the Lord said his lifestyle had to change.
"We found this book called Why Christians Get Sick and basically it said we got sick because we were using the world's system and we were not using our Creator's. Next day we went into the kitchen and emptied everything into big garbage bags; canned foods, everything. We had two microwaves and we just threw them out.
"God's perfect diet is in Genesis 1:29 and it includes fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, peas, beans and grains that is it. This diet
is used for any condition to bring your body back to perfect health because it is regeneration at the molecular level," said Sherrill, who studied orthomolecular medicine and psychiatry.
Earl and Sherrill boast a "100 per cent success rate".
"People think we are arrogant when we say our success rate is 100 per cent but God is the one who made us and He is the one who knows how to turn us around," said Sherrill.
They have developed a programme where they address the spiritual, physical and psychological needs of clients since they believe that every physical condition has psychological and spiritual contributory factors.
The disease-reversal programmes include an anti-AIDS programme which is anything but conventional medicine.
"Our first AIDS victim, who came in on a stretcher, was a dance teacher who was brought to us and he came into my office and I analysed him for two hours. We decided we needed to strengthen his blood first of all.
"We did that with an infusion of chlorophyll. Every half an hour, we pumped him with a glass of chlorophyll and within the first half hour, he was able to sit up. We continued with that and we started him on our anti-AIDS programme which is very simple: four tablespoons of pure coconut oil it is done in the East.
"We gave him the coconut oil every 15 minutes with the chlorophyll. He was able to stand up, and in two hours he was on his way to Montego Bay to conduct a three-day dance workshop." said Sherrill, who further explained the healing power of the oil.
"We have an institute at university called the Tropical Research Institute and we ran a programme about 25 years ago on malnourished children from our innercity who were eating chicken backs and rice every day, which have no nutrition.
"What they did was cook the rice in coconut milk and oil. That study went on for two years and every single child's nutrition went up. They were no longer malnourished.
"All the vitamins, proteins, chlorophyll were in their systems, and the enzymes in their bodies became healthy.
"Coconut oil is anti-viral, anti-fungal and antibacterial. What we do is add garlic to our coconut oil and you have a perfect antidote for whatever.
"So the AIDS virus, which is an acquired immune deficiency, cannot live in a well oxygenated body that is full of coconut oil."
Sherrill said part of their success was that they spent two and a half hours in fellowship with God every day.
Any time they got too busy or veered off course they found themselves in trouble or ill, as was the case when Earl came down with palsy of the left side of his face earlier this year. She said she and her husband were not about money but were about saving souls and lives.
"All of us have cancer cells but we have an army called the immune system in our bodies. The only time you get sick is when you overload the system," Sherill warned.
