From 10 a.m., Stephen Lashley, who will be carrying that party's banner in the next general election which is constitutionally due in 2008, and about 50 other canvassers divided into eight teams, hit the road.
Their aim, they said, was to listen. They wanted to get the views of the people. They wanted to know what the constituents were concerned about.
Some of the DLP candidates contesting the next election, including MPs Ronald Jones and Richard Sealy, were among them.
This was Lashley's second canvass, he said. He has been out and about since last April.
"This [yesterday] morning I spent some time reinforcing and going through some areas, giving the constituents the opportunity to feed back to the party and to meet the candidate," he told the media in Kendal Hill.
"The feedback has been excellent. It is clear that in this constituency there are pockets, areas that need attention.
"I think people in this constituency agree there has been a lack of representation at the highest level for a number of years, as many as ten years the representative was absent from duty. And what we are keen on doing is bringing some level of decent representation," Lashley said.
Party President David Thompson said that over the next few weeks, whenever possible, the DLP would be "out and about" doing mass canvassing in any of the other 29 constituencies.
