To assist in this initiative, Sagicor Life Inc recently donated a computer, colour monitor and printer/scanner/copier to the diocese to facilitate this programme.
Financial adviser of Sagicor Life Inc, Douglas Johnson, in making the presentation recently, said Sagicor viewed it as an effort to strengthen and improve the work of the church.
Bishop John Holder, in thanking Sagicor, said the church's goal was to have the entire diocese, consisting of 51 churches, connected up via an intranet network using the Internet.
"Our hope is that by the end of this year we will be in a position to relaunch the diocesan website and have the intranet communications system fully operational," he added.
The first phase of the project would be upgrading of the diocesan website as well as ensuring all parishes had access to computers.
The desire was for the website as well as the intranet to provide priests and lay people with a wealth of information of the history and current affairs of the diocese and the province. (PR)
