STRUGGLING GRACE PINELANDS registered a key victory in the BOA Men's Premier League Basketball Competition when they overcame Playfair Warriors 67-52 on Saturday.

Although the Pine team remained in the relegation spot, they kept on the heels of Roll-A-Way Sonics, who defeated Sagicor General Tridents 76-50, Warriors, and Nation Deacons Fastbreaks.

Pinelands were improving before a long lay-off, but that did not appear to affect them as they stormed to a 32-19 half-time lead, and kept their opponents at bay for the remainder of the contest.

Kirk Patrick had a game-high 23 points and DeCarlo Skeete added ten, but Chris Holder's 15 points were noteworthy as the Pinelands guards have lacked the necessary support.

David Smith led Warriors with 22 points.

Earlier, the surprising Sonics were led by Bernard Howell's 22 points, while Jefferson Trotman and Terrence Roach chipped in with 15 and 12 respectively.

Jamai Puckerin topscored for Tridents with ten points.

Blitz

In the Women's Division, defending double-crown champions Station Hill Cavaliers and Solar Dynamics Clapham Bulls dished out thrashings on Sunday at Culloden Road. The Lady Cavs blitzed Combined Schools Hoopsters 105-29, while Bulls got past Sonics 84-70.

On Saturday, Hoopsters gave Royal Barbados Police Sports Club a good run – the scores were locked 22-22 at half-time – before they went down 49-35.
