COMPETITORS WILL BE coming out in their numbers with about 50 youngsters taking part in the Schoolboy Bodybuilding and Body Fitness Championships today at the Lester Vaughan Secondary School, Cane Garden, St Thomas, at 4 p.m.

Adrian Donovan, acting assistant director of sport with the National Sports Council, said the youngsters were well prepared and eager to get on stage.

"The competition is free again this year because we want schoolchildren to come and support their school representatives and they will see the healthy results from bodybuilding and fitness," Donovan said.

The championships include Tiny Tots (six to eight age group); Junior Boys, (bodybuilding); Body Fitness Juniors; Body Fitness Seniors; and Senior Boys (bodybuilding).

Two top local bodybuilders will also be on hand as guest acts to add more beef to the contest.

Schoolboy 2005 Larson Gibson, who has been making impressive gains, and Mr Barbados 2006 Owen Dottin are scheduled to make appearances.

The competition is sponsored by Sunshine Cereals and organised by the National Sports Council in collaboration with the Barbados Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.
