THE SECONDARY SCHOOLS' Fish Dish
Co-ordinator of the event, fisheries assistant Angelia Graham, said this year the timing of the event had affected the participation of schools for the competition held at the Fisheries Division, Princess Alice Highway, Bridgetown.
"This year is not as good as previous years and the teachers said it was a matter of timing because the children were at school during the Easter [holiday] and some of the fourth formers are doing CXCs."
Five schools, Alleyne, Lester Vaughan, Lodge, Foundation and St Winifred's participated in the competition.
Graham said three categories had been added a fish soup, fish salad and entrée . Each school was allowed five entries and most of them presented that number.
She added that Morgan's Fish House was the sponsor for the fourth year, and it would be necessary to re-examine when the competition would be staged.
"I will speak with the education officials and some of the regular participants to look at the timing and see what else we can implement," said Graham.
Judges Michael Moore, Lionel Roberts and Corey Blackett yesterday sampled and tasted the various delicacies prepared by the youngsters.
The results will be released at a later date. (WB)
