That's the word from Attorney-General Dale Marshall yesterday as he outlined problems at some of the stations.
"We're working on the refurbishment of police stations. Holetown has a few problems but the officers have laboured on in some challenging circumstances. We have a problem with ventilation, proper cooling of the building and so on. We've requested quotations for an air-conditioning system," he said.
Marshall said Holetown would get a new cooling system as there were some interrogation rooms and offices that were not adequately ventilated.
He also said in an interview at Grantley Adams Memorial Secondary School, Blackmans, St Joseph, where his annual Christmas luncheon was held, that the Black Rock and Criminal Investigation Division (
"The police station at Black Rock, we've already done technical plans drawings for its refurbishment and extensions as well. We'll be extending the station, so at some time we're going to have to close it because the nature of the refurbishment is such that it cannot remain in operation while work is ongoing. We're currently looking at locations we could use during the period," the Attorney-General added.
He said Government was working to bring "police accommodation up to a reasonable state".
Marshall, who is also Minister of Home Affairs, disclosed that the contract for the refurbishment of the CID building at Central Police Station was recently awarded. (DS)
