The 16-year-old student of Queen's College who is now doing her CXC examinations, captured third place in a regional essay competition.
An excited Melanie, who was accompanied by parents Keith and Dianne Holder and brother Rene visited sponsor Cable & Wireless recently where she was congratulated on her accomplishment.
It was only at the last minute that Melanie entered the second annual World Telecommunication Information And Society Day essay competition. She has won a prize from the sponsors and a US cash prize which will be presented later. The essay competition was organised by the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunication Organisations (CANTO) with the assistance of a number of sponsors. First place in the competition was won by a student from Trinidad while the second place went to a Caymanian. (PR)
