THE CARIBBEAN Examinations Council (CXC) has issued a new timetable for the resumption of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) in Trinidad and Tobago.
The new timetable was issued to the Ministry of Education in the twin-island republic last Friday.
CXC's assistant registrar, public information, Cleveland Sam, stated in a release that the Communication Studies Paper 2 would be offered on June 16 and the other examination papers would commence on June 23 and be completed July 25.
"The council has taken the decision to replace all CAPE papers originally scheduled between May 12 and June 13 in Trinidad and Tobago with new examination papers. The CAPE results for Trinidad and Tobago will therefore be released on August 16, five days later than the originally scheduled release date," Sam said.
In the release, CXC registrar Dr Didacus Jules said, "The council is of the view that under the circumstances, this is the best possible option to ensure the integrity of its examination.
"The council assures the public of its strong commitment to providing the region with examinations of the highest quality which are internationally recognised."
The CXC had cancelled all CAPE exams in Trinidad scheduled for last Friday and continuing until June 13, after students were able to buy the Communication Studies Paper 2 as well as biology, physics and chemistry papers, for as much as TT$5 000 (BDS$1 595).
The council and the Ministry of Education in Trinidad and Tobago worked with police to fully investigate the circumstances which led to the cancellation. (PR/DS)
