CAVE SHEPHERD and Total Sport have given a helping hand to exciting Barbados fast bowler Kemar Roach.

The 20-year-old youth, who was recently called up to a West Indies training squad, was recently presented with full cricket gear from the Broad Street branch of Total Sport.

"I am overwhelmed and very happy. I want to thank Cave Shepherd's staff and Total Sport for this donation and I will cherish and truly use it. I hope that it will go on for a couple more years."

Manager of Total Sport, Luther Hinds said the Gray-Nicholls branded gear comprised cricket bag, bat, full pads, shoes, helmet, gloves and a full suit of cricket clothes.

"We were approached on behalf of Kemar and decided to get involved," Hinds said.

"We like giving back to the community, since they continue to support us and what better way to do so than by assisting the future of Barbados."

Cave Shepherd's store manager Beverly Belgrave said they felt it was important to recognise and support youth who were doing well, and the contribution to Roach was in keeping with the values held by the company.

"For us this donation represents our social responsibility and our desire to give back to the community and for a young person like Kemar, being selected says a whole lot," she said. (PR)
