All-rounder Danielle Small starred with bat and ball to lead the Angela Harris Trident to a tense 13-run victory over Pat Whittaker Pride in the first match of the five-game one-day series.
Small hit 79 in the Trident's challenging total of 200 for five in 42 overs and then returned to capture three wickets for 40 runs with her fast-medium bowling as Pat Whittaker Pride responded with a respectable 187 in 41.1 overs.
Opener Michelle "Donna" Ellis topscored with 65 in a losing cause while West Indies cricketer Pamela Lavine supported Small by taking three for 39.
Earlier, Trident's captain Charlene Taitt contributed a solid 38 not out against the medium-pace bowling of Rashida Goring and Deandra Dottin, who took two wickets each for 25 and 34 runs, respectively.
The series, which features the island's best female cricketers, is also being used as national trials in preparation for this year's West Indies' under-19 and senior tournaments.
