BCC set for chess crown

BARBADOS COMMUNITY COLLEGE'S (BCC) chess "Dream team" are poised to become champions of the 2006 United Insurance Tertiary and Secondary Premier Chess League after dispatching their major rivals in Rounds 3 and 4 at Harrison College recently.

In the penultimate match of the tournament the BCC defeated their major challengers The Lodge School 5-3.

With just one more round remaining the point standings are: BCC 27 points, Lodge School 21, UWI 17, Harrison College 14, Queen College 11 and Combermere eight.

The final round play in the United Insurance Tertiary and Secondary Premier League Chess Tournament resumes today at the Harrison College at 1 p.m. (SC)
