EMPTY STREETS. Call it Gone In 90 Minutes! Motorists and pedestrians cleared The City of Bridgetown in record time yesterday, as the Royal Barbados Police Force successfully carried out its first test of the Bridgetown Emergency Traffic Management Plan. The exercise started at 3 p.m. with the disabling of traffic lights throughout The City, but by 3:20 p.m., most traffic was out of town anyway. By 4:30 p.m., it was a complete ghost town. With most Government agencies closing early, most stores on Broad Street did likewise, and shoppers hustled out of town, though some complained about the inability to shop. Police officials later said things went smoothly, though there were some bottlenecks outside The City as commuters made their way home.
