Athletics alive and kicking, says Babb

WHAT’S THAT ABOUT the state of local athletics again?

The returns from the Pan American Games is more than enough proof Bajan track and field is doing just fine, at least according to head coach Alwyn Babb, who’s grown increasingly tired of the recent criticisms of Barbados’ performances at international meets.

“I would say [that] if there was any doubt that we have world-class talent ready to take on the world, then that doubt can be put to rest now.

“So it’s time to stop the negative comments directed towards our athletes if they have an off season for any reason,” said Babb in a telephone interview with SUNSPORT from Toronto, Canada. (JM)
