30 attorneys admitted to Bar

A BARBADOS beauty queen; a Queen’s Counsel in a Trinidadian law firm, a teacher of two decades’ experience, an experienced banker and a handful of Barbados Scholarship and Exhibition winners are among those now able to practise law in Barbados.
They were part of a group of 30 attorneys who took their oaths before proud parents and friends in a full sitting in the Court of Appeal yesterday afternoon.
The new attorneys were proposed by Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite and Solicitor-General Jennifer Edwards, QC, who read their bios and called them “persons of good character” and “persons fit and proper to be admitted to practise law in Barbados”.
Those admitted to the Bar were: Christal Alleyne; Mawena Brathwaite; Jaina Brathwaite; Lesah Denny; Shermaine Desnoes; Benjamin Drakes; Katherine Gibbs; Natasha Green; Mark Hope; Russell King; Johanan Lafeuillee-Douglin; Ebrahim Lakhi; Douglas Leys, QC; Jaundy Martin;  Leah Marville; John Moore; Safiya Moore; Bartlett Morgan; Ayodele Murray; Camille Nurse; Amanda Riley; Gayl Scott; Kim Sealy; Hendrickson Seunath, SC; Nikeh Smithen; Marietta Waldron; Kevin Kyle Webster; Roosevelt White; Cherisse Whitehall-Small; Lorie Yarde.
