500 entries for Classic meet

In only its second year, the Joseph Payne Memorial Classic has attracted more than 500 entries from the schools and clubs.
From 9:30 a.m. tomorrow the National Stadium will come alive as the island’s top junior and senior athletes and the budding juveniles take to the track.
In addition to both primary and secondary schools, Freedom Striders, Wibisco Stars, Rising Stars, Elite Distance, Quantum Leap, Track & Field Academy, BC Trac, UWI and Pacers Track Club will be taking part.
Sixty-five events are on the cards and competition will be held in the Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-20 and Open divisions. All track events are timed finals.
Cycling sprints are also on the programme. (SAT)
