Bajan boys safe and sound

BARBADOS’ CHAMPION Under-13 cricket squad is still in high spirits in St Kitts.
Team management gave the assurance that the boys were safe and sound after the Leeward Islands was placed under a flood watch following the passage of Hurricane Earle in the early hours of yesterday morning.
“The boys are restless as expected but they have been well-behaved and are still in high spirits,” revealed manager Adrian Donovan.
“The system has passed and is currently heading to Anguilla but they are now monitoring another system coming out of the Atlantic.”
The team, which is currently shacked up in the Basseterre Community Centre, couldn’t get a flight out of St Kitts as the airport was closed after heavy rains and winds caused minor infrastructural damage across the island.
Barbados were slated to start their Ten10 campaign today, following last weekend’s successful defence of the 25-over St Kitts Festival, but no official word has been released on the tournament’s status.
The Under-13 side was originally slated to return on Sunday. (JM)
