Today, the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary, which has been closed for the past two years, opened its exhibits and interpretive walkways through the mangroves and upland areas to the public.
Hundreds of visitors and locals paid a small fee and grabbed the opportunity to explore the sanctuary. The event was for “one day only from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
While there, many patrons called for the park to be reopened to the public.
One such patron was Idelia Eastmond who said the sanctuary was one of the best tourist attractions on the island.
Eastmond said: “No one really knows the situation about why it’s closed but it being closed is not only a loss to the tourist industry but also to locals”. (AH)
