SAINT LUCY SECONDARY SCHOOL is no more.
With the lowering of one flag and the raising of another, the  lone secondary school in the island’s northernmost parish changed its name to the Daryll Jordan Secondary School,  after a long celebratory  double-naming ceremony  in its auditorium yesterday.
To the tune of the military  Last Post played by the Cadet Band, Jordan, the school’s first headmaster, watched the institution he led from  1971 to 1995 immortalize him  on a steaming hot afternoon, minutes before the school’s new hall also took on the names of two other northern stalwarts: the late Esbon Ifill and Amory Phillips.
Jordan had earlier voiced his gratitude in the hall, before an audience that included his wife Edith and family members, Minister of Education Ronald Jones, St Lucy Member of Parliament Denis Kellman and scores of education officials and teachers, including former staffer and principal of The Alexandra School, Jeff Broomes.
