Barbados’ football is currently goingthrough a restructuring phase, and in timethe results will reflect such.

This was the charge made by Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) general secretary Edwyn Wood during an exclusive interview with NATIONSPORT on Monday. He was responding to Minister of Sports John King’s comments that the entire football fraternity needed to be restructured.

“I wouldn’t say football needs restructuring; I would say football is in a restructuring process. When we came to office in 2012, we recognised that something needed to be done. At the time the resources were a bit slim, but we recognised the focus had to be on the youth, and we had to build a team that could take us there instead of doingthe same old same old,” Wood explained.

He added they had now come to a point where they received more funding from FIFA, whichmade it easier to put the programmes they wanted in place. (RA)
