An American Airlines flight heading for Barbados this morning was forced to turn around and complete an emergency landing back at the Miami International Airport.
AA1089 had left the Miami airport just after 10 a.m., and developed problems about 80 minutes later. It had been scheduled to arrive at the Grantley Adams International Airport, in Barbados, just before 3 p.m.
Instead, it completed an emergency landing back in Miami, where fire trucks and emergency medical personnel were on hand if needed. Fortunately, the aircraft landed without an injury to passengers or crew.
Scores of Barbadians were on the flight, and are currently awaiting updated travel plans from the airline. (BA)
