I do agree that we have a relatively low crime rate when compared to a lot of other Countries. I do think there is a need to be concern about the level of crime in Barbados, and the emerging trend of behavior of our young people. From observation their are a lot of things we need to pay very close attention to. I am not sure if it is true to say that crime in Barbados is under control.Is crime really ever under control?

While we may have one of the lowest crime rates in the Caribbean, the nature of firearms being brandished by these men in a wanton, reckless and “igrunt” manner cannot be justified Mr. Brathwaite. How can one say that crime is under “control” when people have to dodge bullets like raindrops??!!

“Barbados was among the lowest in the Caribbean and that the Royal Barbados Police Force could feel pleased”; this is why Barbados is becoming the way it is…always comparing ourselves to others instead of trying to solve the problem.  ” if we are not on par, we are just one murder ahead of where we were last year.”—tell that to the families of those murdered, that should be very comforting for them. Stop worrying about what’s happening in other countries and solve the problems we have, because we may be lower in murders than other countries does not minimize the need to solve the issues at hand; our country is probably a lot smaller than those countries which are being referenced to justify us being lower in crime.
I realize that as time change conditions will also but do not justify the inabaility to solve crime by comparing us to other countries!
Barbados is too small not to be able to sovle these crimes!
