Stakeholders in the upcoming Independence parade met today at the Garrison to figure out the details.
Led by Colonel Glyne Grannum, the group, made up of officials from the Prime Minister’s office, Royal Barbados Police Force, the Department of Emergency Management, the Sanitation Service Authority, Ministry of Transport and Works and the media, made sure they were all on the same page regarding the upcoming national event.
Issues such as positioning for photography, bathroom facilities, parking, vending, security and clean-up were hashed out in the latest of a series of meetings.
Afterwards, Grannum said he was confident all would be in place.
“Despite how easy it looks on the big day, it takes a tremendous amount of work . . . but I have confidence going forward we will have synergy. It will be something everybody should come out to watch and show their patriotism,” he said.
The major difference this year will come from the Police Force Band which is celebrating 125 years.
Director, superintendent Keith Ellis, said they had a display in mind but they still had to work out exactly what they were going to do. (CA)
