COMMISSIONER OF POLICE Darwin Dottin and his deputy Bertie Hinds have been at loggerheads recently, but yesterday, the top brass in the Royal Barbados Police Force had something to smile about during a nationally televised Press conference at the Police High Command offices at Roebuck Street.

Just what the public needs to see at this time of mourning. Two top cops laughing their pension secured and accounted for financial futures off while we wait for answer to Friday’s tragedy.

Comment LinkGiven the seriousness of this press conference, this is a highly inappropiate photo to place on the front page. This entire press briefing seemed to be a laughing matter as the Commissioner spent the entire conference of the brink of some private mirth. I would suggest that public officials be given training before they come to deal with matters of this nature in a public forum.
This conference did not inspire any level of confidence in our top brass.
The announcement that we have the lowest crime rate in the region is no reason to celebrate when some of our neighbours have among the highest murder rates per capita in the world.
Let’s get serious.

Comment LinkThe publication of this photo is pure sensationalism. Don’t blame the RBPF as I don’t believe that they don’t care that the country is in mourning. We still have to laugh and be at ease or else the doctors will be seeing more patients for stress-related illnesses at this time. We can still smile in the face of adversity.
Check the photos in the Barbados Today online newspaper and see completely different photos which conveys a completely different message.
We need to stop the blaming foolishness that has overtaken us since last Friday night and act like responsible citizens whose heads are still level in spite of everything.
May God’s peace be with all Barbadians especially the families of those six beautiful young ladies and the young gentleman.

Comment LinkIs the death of six beautiful young women something to smile about?
How can we take the police seriously or respect them when they are laughing. They seem to be living in a different zone this is a serious crime that needs to be solved NOW. How must the girls families feel when they see this picture. A disgrace. The Nation didn’t have a more appropriate picture?

Comment LinkI really can’t imagine that these top police could actually find something to laugh at after what happened on Friday. They really don’t seem to get the gravity of the situation.
Also, they ought to watch “The first 48”, a show about police here in the U.S solving murders in the first 48 hours after the crime. According to that show, after the first 48 hours, it becomes more and more difficult to catch the bad guys. Instead of enjoying themselves so much, these cops need to be studying how to get the bad guys.
