Almond staff to get cheques

Almond?Beach Club staffers who will meet with the hotel’s new owners Elite Island Resorts this afternoon are also looking forward to receiving severance pay cheques from former owners Neal & Massy.
Staffers told the MIDWEEK?NATION last night, they expected to receive severance payments before they were rehired by Elite Resorts Inc.
“The future of the hotel will be big talk, but clearly the staff are happy that they are getting severance pay from Neal &?Massy,” one staffer said.
“We are pleased that Elite has plans to upgrade the hotel. It is a bank holiday and there has been short notice, but most of the staff will be in attendance,” the staffer said.
The meeting will be held at the club’s Enid’s Restaurant, starting at 2:30 p.m.
It comes 24 hours after it was announced that Elite lsland Resorts had taken over ownership of the St James establishment.
The announcement was made at the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU)?headquarters on Solidarity House by general secretary Sir Roy Trotman, who said the takeover should result in increased business.
