The Queen Elizabeth Hospital has put measures in place to deal with the challenges being faced by The Emergency Ambulance Service due to vehicular failures.
In a release today, hospital officials said they expect ambulances will be incrementally returned to service – some within 48 hours and others over a one to two week period.
“In the interim, arrangements have been put in place for continued service through outsourcing to private providers for 24-hour coverage and through assistance by the Barbados Defence Force (BDF). The procurement of four additional ambulances is currently being processed,” it stated.
The QEH is also asking the public to ensure that they access the Ambulance Service only for genuine emergencies and to make alternative arrangements where possible for transportation to the Hospital.
