The sporting fraternity was well represented among the hundreds of graduates who officially received their documents of higher education at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Cave Hill Campus graduation at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex last weekend.
Topping the list was Dominican off-spinning all-rounder Liam Sebastian, who represented UWI for a number of their title-winning seasons in the Barbados Cricket Association’s competitions.
He also represents the Windward Islands in the regional competitions, at times captaining the side when regular skipper Darren Sammy is unavailable. Sebastian graduated with a Master of Science in international management.
Fast bowler Khismar Catlin, who has also represented UWI, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) while cricket umpire Bertnul Ricardo Harrison was handed his Bachelor of Laws.
Songstress and highly successful Blackbirds netball captain Monique James also gained her BA, with chess grandmaster Martyn Del Castilho gaining his Bachelor of Science.
Footballers Damien Forde and Damien Small, along with hockey player Carlos Applewhaite, were among the list of graduating sportspersons. (KB)
