Back to school cuts

Barber shops were busy yesterday as thousands of schoolchildren got ready to return to the classroom today.

A highlight of the start of the new school year is a fresh haircut for the boys, complete with “razor marks”. The new look works for both secondary and primary students.

Over at Woine Barber Zone in Worthing, Christ Church, there was a hive of activity as the boys, some with their parents, waited for their turn in the barber’s chair.

“It has been busy this morning and we will try to make sure that we service all of our customers and make sure the boys are well groomed for school,” said barber Dwayne Barker.

Meanwhile, at Faders Barber Salon in Black Rock, St Michael, there was standing room only as a steady flow of patrons patiently waited for that special haircut.

“From Saturday the boys just kept coming for a haircut and we were open from 9 a.m. and we will close at 9 p.m. All of our customers will be looked after with excellent service,” declared owner Kirkly Greenidge as he settled into his busy day. (RL)
