BAMP calls meeting

HUNDREDS OF PATIENTS planning to attend the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), polyclinics, district hospitals and other government-run medical facilities tomorrow may have a long wait for service.
This is because key personnel from these facilities are expected to be at the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners’ (BAMP) “extraordinary general meeting” which starts at 9:30 a.m. in the QEH Auditorium
The meeting, the timing of which was criticized by Minister of Health Donville Inniss, was called against the backdrop of negotiations between the doctors and the QEH over conditions of service and some money matters.
According to a statement BAMP sent to its members, it has been almost a year since the association took industrial action “in response to unresolved issues affecting medical professionals and, by extension, the patients”. (MM)
