BARBADOS suffered an embarrassing collapse to hand Jamaica a comprehensive 139-run victory in the WICB regional four-day final and a record equaling fifth successive title on Monday.
Set 230 to win in 77 overs after Jamaica declared their second innings on 247 for five an hour before lunch, Barbados, who captured first innings and needed only a draw to secure the championship, were dismissed for 90
Barbados’ disappointing second innings lasted only 26.3 overs and the match finished an hour after lunch at Sabina Park.
Fast-medium bowler Dave Bernard Jr orchestrated the collapse by grabbing the first four wickets, while leg-spinner Oden Brown collected three for nine left-arm spinner Nikita Miller two.
Bernard reduced Barbados to 11 for four and there was no recovery despite a sixth wicket partnership of 43 between Shane Dowrich (32) and captain Shamarh Brooks (5).
Earlier, Jamaica, resuming on 133 for two, scored briskly in adding another 114 runs in 18 overs.
